Local businessmen John McKeown, Glen Littler and Gareth Hartley will be joining the club along with Ian Ross, who will take the role of Chairman whilst current Chairman David Day will stand down, but retain a role on the board.
Current first team manager Steve Hill will also step down in the reshuffle, leaving the club with our sincere thanks, and the club would like to further wish Steve the very best of luck in the future.
Dave had this to say about Steve:
“Steve Hill and his team worked tirelessly to consolidate Widnes Football Club in the North West Counties League, he brought the club through from the 3rd division of the West Cheshire League which was a huge jump and no mean feat. However, we both felt in the interest of the club that we should both step aside to bring some much needed new stimulus to the club.
“I have much admiration for Steve Hill as a person and is the most knowledgeable football man I know. It is typical of the man that his final act was to wish Widnes football Club success next season and beyond.”
New Chairman Ian Ross spoke to us earlier:
“I'm delighted to be involved at the heart of such an ambitious project here at Widnes, where we aim to build on the solid foundations laid over the previous three seasons.
“I'm thrilled we have managed to retain Dave on the board. His experience, business acumen and enthusiasm for success will be an invaluable asset that the club can continue to count on.
"Adding to Dave, we have managed to put together a tremendous board of directors, that as well as being locals, bring the necessary expertise and drive to enable us to put a competitive side out onto the pitch for the coming seasons.
“It's an exciting time to be involved at Widnes, but we have lots of hard work ahead which starts straight away. ”
A new Management set up will be announced in due course.
