Widnes Football Club can confirm the departure of forward James Steele.

The club reached an agreement with the 22-year-old for the early termination of his contract last month, and he has since signed for neighbours Runcorn Linnets.

Steele joined the club from Newcastle Town in the summer of 2019 and went on to make 62 appearances in a Widnes shirt, scoring 12 goals.
