Attacking midfielder Jay Salkeld has become Widnes' third new signing of the summer.
The 21-year-old has penned terms at the DCBL Stadium after leaving Skelmersdale United in the summer.
Salkeld was part of the Skem side that won promotion to the Northern Premier League last season after moving to JMO Sports Park from City of Liverpool earlier in the campaign.
It is with the Purps that Jay first had a taste of the Northern Premier League, scoring once in six appearances.
Salkeld was a trainee with Tranmere Rovers and has also represented AFC Liverpool and Burscough after his departure from Prenton Park.
"I have worked with Jay previously and I know just how talented he is," manager Dave Dempsey said.
"He'll be a great addition to the group. He's very direct and has real quality when moving around the pitch with the football.
"He has the ability to make a massive impact and it's really pleasing to add Jay to an already strong squad."
