Widnes Football Club are pleased to confirm the loan signing of Mansfield Town goalkeeper Aidan Stone.
Aidan, 20, arrives from the Stags on an initial one-month loan deal per recommendation from former First Team Coach Andy Burgess, who is now Head of Recruitment at the League Two club.
He joined Mansfield in the summer after leaving Burnley, and made his debut for John Dempster's side in August, a 1-1 draw with Everton under-21s in the Leasing.com Trophy at One Call Stadium.
Stone played the full 90 minutes of Widnes' 2-1 loss to Runcorn Linnets on Saturday, and arrives to provide competition for Whites shot-stopper Owen Wheeler.
Joint-manager Kev Towey said: "Owen has had a difficult time of late and he knows himself that he's not reached the standards that he hit during the second-part of last season.
"I can see that's hurting him. He's probably a little bit more than his own biggest critic so we've just took him out of the firing line for a few games.
"We've explained to him that he can work with Aidan and in training to get his mojo back and I'm confident he'll do that over the next month."
