Widnes Football Club is delighted to have completed the signing of Jay Cooper.
The 28-year-old has returned to the DCBL Stadium for a second spell almost 10 years after his last appearance for the Whites coming in a loss at Barnton on the final day of the 2014-15 season.
Cooper played 30 games under Steve Hill that term, scoring four goals with most of his football coming in a central midfield position.
Since his departure, Cooper has become one of the more reliable central defenders in the North West at Step 4, featuring for both Prescot Cables and most recently Bootle.
He made 101 appearances for the Bucks in a three-and-a-half-year spell at the Berry Street Garage Stadium, netting three goals before his departure was confirmed earlier this week.
Jay will be a welcomed boost to Michael Ellison’s defensive ranks and is eligible to face Atherton Collieries tomorrow.
Welcome back, Jay!
