Widnes Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Bury striker Andy Briggs.

The 26-year-old has linked up with Michael Ellison’s squad and is eligible to face Avro at the DCBL Stadium tomorrow.

Briggs arrives with a phenomenal goalscoring pedigree having netted 146 goals in 213 appearances for hometown club Steeton over nine seasons.

He scored 35 goals for the West Yorkshire-based side during the 2022-23 season at Step 6, which secured the club, divisional, and North West Counties Football League overall, golden boot.

That goalscoring feat was a record-breaking campaign at a semi-professional level for Steeton, earning the striker a move to Gigg Lane.

Andy joined the Shakers in the summer of 2023 and played a pivotal role in the Shakers reaching the NWCFL Premier Division play-off final.

Briggs was Bury’s top goalscorer, scoring 25 goals in 33 appearances and was voted Player of the Season by the Up the Shakers Forum at the end of the campaign.

He has featured 12 times this season, all from the bench.

Welcome to Widnes, Andy!
