Widnes Football Club is pleased to confirm the signing of versatile midfielder Ben Rydel.
The 21-year-old arrives at the DCBL Stadium following his departure from Atherton Collieries earlier this summer.
Rydel made 42 appearances for Collieries in the Northern Premier League Premier Division last season – the most amongst the entire Atherton squad – scoring three goals.
Ben began his career as youth academy graduate at Salford City, signing his first senior contract with the Ammies in August 2021.
He was then sent on loan to City of Liverpool, then managed by Widnes boss Michael Ellison, making ten appearances and scoring once in a FA Cup upset victory over Farsley Celtic.
Rydel then made his senior debut for Salford in the EFL Trophy before enjoying two further loan spells at Radcliffe, before eventually signing for Borough on a permanent deal.
Welcome to Widnes, Ben!
