Widnes head to Prescot Cables tonight for the first of a number of local derbies in the BetVictor Northern Premier League Division One North/West this season.
Co-bosses Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey will be expecting a response after the Whites were beaten at league-leaders Workington on Saturday.
But Widnes will be buoyed by a number of positive results on the road already this season, boasting wins at Colne and Mossley as well as recording a draw at unbeaten Marske United last month.
They travel to a venue which yielded two narrow Widnes defeats last season against a Cables side who have undergone a summer overhaul of their playing squad.
Manager Brian Richardson resigned to take up a position at FC United of Manchester as assistant manager leading to an exodus of players that left only 11 of last season's squad remaining at the club.
However, Prescot have started fairly well under Steve Pilling and Roy Grundy, sitting the play-off positions with 13 points from their opening eight games.
Cables are unbeaten in their previous five outings and come into this contest off the back of a 1-1 draw away at bottom club Pickering Town.
They'll look to capitalise on any psychological advantage from beating Widnes twice in the space of two weeks in March at Volair Park, dumping the Whites out of the Liverpool Senior Cup at the semi-final stage on penalties, before winning the league contest 11 days later.
Widnes have no new injury concerns for the trip to Cables, with Keenan Quansah playing 90 minutes at Workington on Saturday after limping out of the previous week's win at Colne with a knock.
Elsewhere, Danny Ventre is available for selection after missing out on the trip to Workington, while Ben Hodkinson and Conor Ready could both be recalled to the starting line-up.
Josh Klein-Davies could feature against his former club for the first time, as could former Widnes man Sean Myler who made the switch to Prescot in the summer.
A win for Widnes would see the Whites move comfortably into the top-half and close the gap on their neighbours to two points with two games in-hand.
